Rail vehicle procurement involves an eligibility assessment of suppliers/bidders in certain commodity groups prior to contract award. Such a "PQ-Bahn Prequalification Process" is thus an entry requirement for participating in our contract award procedures.
Prequalification is required for these commodity groups
Locomotive leasing
A questionnaire must be answered in the SMaRT system for the prequalification procedure. After successfully completing prequalification, you will be included in our pool of prequalified suppliers and can participate in the corresponding contract award procedures from this point on.

Retrofitting and maintenance of rail vehicles
The prequalification process includes 2 stages after registration (questionnaire in the SMaRT system and subsequent registration). After successfully completing prequalification, you will be included in our pool of prequalified suppliers and can participate in the corresponding contract award procedures from this point on.

Procurement of upholstery and upholstery refurbishment
After registration, the prequalification procedure comprises 2 stages (questionnaire in the SMaRT system and subsequent registration). After successful completion of these, the applicant can participate in EU-wide contract award procedures of the DB Group for all, several or individual services depending on suitability and project size/scope in the area of upholstery and upholstery reconditioning. There are a total of three PQ classes for the procurement of upholstery and upholstery reconditioning. They differ according to project size and scope.

Procurement of seats

After registration, the prequalification procedure comprises two stages (questionnaire in the SMaRT system and subsequent registration). After successfully completing these, the applicant can participate in EU-wide contract award procedures of the DB Group for all, several or individual services depending on suitability and project size in the area of seats.There are two PQ classes for the procurement of seats. They differ according to project size.
Applicants who are already prequalified for the procurement of upholstery and upholstery refurbishment only have to answer the 3 deviating questions in the questionnaire.
